SHADOWS

Can you love the beauty of the shadows in my mind

Can you peel the paint away so I can read the hidden sign

Tell me this is the best dream that only you could find

Can you love the beauty of the shadows in my smile

Misty mountain valleys gather dust in exile

People pass as strangers thru subway turnstiles

Someone’s love surrounds you someone’s hate defiles

Can you love the beauty of the shadows in my smile

Orange blossom arrows soar through cloudy skies

Heaven’s melting tallow drips slowly from your eyes

With you shining rainbow you lead me to the prize

Can you love the beauty of the shadows in my smile

Can you fly on rainbows can you find the gold

Purge with sweat your burning regrets and sleep within the folds

Rest your weary soul rest your weary soul

The events that shape our personalities and influence our lives the most, are unfortunately most often the negative things that we live through. These events, if we are lucky, can lead to positive results, after all, whatever doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger. The ‘shadows in my smile’ is just that, I smile because I am stronger and better off for surviving the bad events. When I meet people I can often see the ‘shadows in their smiles’, it is the combination of the two that is the true beauty of a person for that is what makes them who they are.
